Zepht was a Denobulan geologist for the Denobulan Science Academy, assigned to Xantoras to study the unique speleothems there. He was rescued from the planet by an away team from the Enterprise NX-01 when the new government ordered all aliens to leave the planet. At first he was unwilling to leave since he had collected many important rock samples. He escaped just in time before the Xantoras army patrols found them.
Zepht had no objection to traveling on an alien ship back to Denobula with an Antaran, against whom his people held many prejudices since their species went to war. (ENT: "The Breach")
