Zeon was an inhabited planet. This planet had a ring system. It was the homeworld for the Zeons, a pre-warp capable humanoid species. This planet was further out from its primary than the sister planet Ekos. The planet was located in the Alpha Quadrant.
In 2268, Zeon was briefly endangered when the Ekosian Nazi regime planned to attack it with a fleet of manned and unmanned weapons. Promoted as the "Final Decision", the attack was barely averted by the crew of the starship USS Enterprise, working with the Zeon and native Ekosian anti-Nazi underground resistance. (TOS: "Patterns of Force")
The place-name Zeon would seem to play on "Zion", a Hebrew metonym for ancient Israel. It strengthens the parallel between the xenophobic persecution on Ekos and Europe's own Nazi-directed Holocaust. The altruistic immigrants Isak, his brother Abrom, and Davod all have Hebrew names, similarly tweaked.
According to Startrek.com, Zeon was located in the M34 Alpha planetary system. This system had two planets. [[1]]
