Zeon was the homeworld of the Zeons, and the next planet out from Ekos. The planets were M-class sisters; however, unlike her sister planet, Zeon had a ring system. The Ekos-Zeon star system was unnamed.
In 2268, Zeon was briefly endangered when the Ekosian Nazi regime planned to attack it with interplanetary thermonuclear missiles. Promoted as the "Final Decision", the attack was barely averted by the crew of the starship USS Enterprise, working with the Zeon and native Ekosian anti-Nazi underground resistance. (TOS: "Patterns of Force")
The place-name Zeon would seem to play on "Zion", a Hebrew metonym for ancient Israel. It strengthens the parallel between the xenophobic persecution on Ekos and Europe's own Nazi-directed Holocaust. The altruistic immigrants Isak, his brother Abrom, and Davod all have Hebrew names, similarly tweaked.
