The Yeager loop is a starship maneuver that is typically performed by five ships.
The ships performing the maneuver begin in a diamond slot formation. They then climb and loop backwards at a steep angle and at the peak of the loop, turn over and accelerate in a new direction.
The maneuver was performed by Nova Squadron in 2368, aboard their Academy training craft, as a prelude to their infamous recreation of the Kolvoord Starburst. (TNG: "The First Duty")
According to Star Trek Encyclopedia, the Yeager loop was named after test pilot Chuck Yeager.
