The term Yankee could be used interchangeably, or to refer to a subset of this population, notably those associated with the Union side in the American Civil War. In a representation of the Q Civil War modeled on that conflict, Q represented himself as a "Union officer determined to win [Janeway's] affections despite her hatred for Yankee interlopers.".
