The Xarantine are a spacefaring species near Klingon space. The Klingons considered them to be "no match" for them.

In 2151, the Klingon vessel IKS Somraw raided a Xarantine outpost and looted Xarantine ale to celebrate the victory. However, unknown to the Klingons, the ale was poisoned. Falling ill and being attacked by Xarantine ships, the commander of the Somraw eventually decided to retreat into a Q'tahL class gas giant's atmosphere. (ENT: "Sleeping Dogs")

BackgroundEdit

According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 56, the Xarantine were from the Xarantine (Zeta Leporis) star system. This system was located in the Beta Quadrant.

ApocryphaEdit

The Xarantine are also mentioned in the Star Trek: A Time to... and Star Trek: Destiny novel series. In the Star Trek Online video game a "Xarantine system" within a "Xarantine sector" is located along the Federation-Klingon border next to the Archanis sector.
