The legendary Wyatt Earp was a 19th century American frontier law officer from Earth's Ancient West. Wyatt is the brother of Virgil Earp and Morgan Earp. He is most famous for his participation in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral on October 26th, 1881, in which the Earps, along with "Doc" Holliday, confronted Ike and Billy Clanton, Frank and Tom McLaury, and Billy Claiborne, leading to the most historic gunfight in the history of the Wild West.
In 2268, the Melkot created a replica of Wyatt Earp as part of a bizarre, inaccurate depiction of the events leading to the gunfight. This illusion was intended to lead to the execution of Captain James T. Kirk and his landing party, who were placed in the roles of the Clantons, the McLaurys, and Claiborne. Kirk and crew were able to outsmart their would-be killers, and Kirk's non-violent resolution persuaded the Melkot to open diplomatic relations with the United Federation of Planets.
