A woofer is a type of loudspeaker used for automobiles, which allows one to listen to the radio at much higher volumes.
Tom Paris had a Camaro that was equipped with such a device. He would often drive the car down Highway 1 on his holodeck program Paris Program Alpha-1, or as he called it; "Grease Monkey." (VOY: "Vis à Vis")
