(written from a Production point of view)
William Paul Dornisch (24 March 1930 – 11 April 1997; age 67) was the film editor for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. He later edited the 1983 made-for-television movie The Day After for Star Trek II director Nicholas Meyer. Both of these films featured actress Bibi Besch.
He had previously edited the Warner Bros. films The Picasso Summer (1969) and Brothers (1977), the latter of which starred Bernie Casey. He was also a supervising editor on the 1971 film Johnny Got His Gun, which featured the likes of Robert Easton, Byron Morrow, and David Soul, as well as music by Jerry Fielding and production design by Harold Michelson.
Dornisch received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Film Editing for a Limited Series or a Special for The Day After. Afterward, he edited four episodes of the hit television series MacGyver, each one airing in early 1988. These were his last known editing credits. He died less than a decade later.
