White was a color which was noted for its ability of reflecting and scattering all the frequencies of visible light. This color was the opposite of black; see black and white.

In the children's nursery rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb", Mary's lamb had a fleece as white as snow. (ENT: "Dawn")

The White Rabbit, a character from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, wore white gloves and had white fur. (TOS: "Shore Leave")

In three-dimensional chess, there were black and white playing pieces, with each player selecting a color. (TOS: "Charlie X"; Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

To see things in terms of black and white was to not allow room for ambiguity, aka gray areas. (TOS: "Catspaw")

On Federation star charts of the 23rd century, the color white was used for non-aligned territory and locations. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds")

In 2374, during the World War II holoprogram run aboard the USS Voyager, the Wehrmacht captain expounded upon the symbolic elements of the Nazi flag to Turanj. According to the captain, the blazing white circle of the sun sanctified the blood of Germans, represented by the red field of the flag. (VOY: "The Killing Game, Part II")
