Whales Weep Not! is a poem by Human writer D.H. Lawrence that opens with the lines "They say the sea is cold, but the sea contains the hottest blood of all."

In 1986, James T. Kirk (having time traveled from 2286) quoted the poem's opening lines to Gillian Taylor, who recognized their provenance. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
