A werewolf was a mythical Earth creature. Typically, a werewolf is a person who changes to a humanoid looking wolf. Transformations were believed to be brought on by a full moon.

When Samuel Clemens was brought from the 19th century to the 24th century, he thought Lieutenant Commander Worf was a werewolf. (TNG: "Time's Arrow, Part II")
