District of Columbia map

20th century map depicting the location of Washington, DC

Washington, DC, the District of Columbia, was the capital city of the former nation-state known as the United States of America, situated on the east coast of Earth's North American continent.

Maps of North America and the District of Columbia were downloaded from the USS Enterprise library computer by the Talosians in 2254. (TOS: "The Cage")

The maps were from educational texts available at the time of filming, 1964.

It is also home to the Smithsonian Institution, whose collection includes the warp-ship Phoenix, which Captain Jean-Luc Picard visited several times. (Star Trek: First Contact)
