The Warp Technologies Development Group is a Starfleet branch consisting of engineers who continuously design new technology that allows space travel at faster-than-light speeds and reconfigures existing warp drives to operate in their most efficient manner.
Among other functions, the Warp Technologies Development Group continuously works to optimize the warp field environment, to optimize their impact on starship design, to increase velocity and to optimize measurement via warp factors. (TNG: "Where No One Has Gone Before")
The Warp Technologies Development Group was only once mentioned in dialog, but can also be seen on the dedication plaque of the USS Enterprise-D.
