A Wanoni tracehound was an extremely aggressive canine pursuer.
In 2369, Odo compared Lwaxana Troi's pursuit of himself to that of the Wanoni tracehound. (DS9: "The Forsaken")
The Star Trek: The Starfleet Survival Guide includes a section of non-canon information on the Wanoni tracehound, including its planet of origin, its physical characteristics, and how to avoid being attacked by one.
