A waiter is a person employed in a bar or restaurant who takes and serves meal and drink orders. A female in this occupation is generally known as a waitress.

In 2268, Deep Space Station K-7 employed at least two waitresses, one a blonde, the other a brunette. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles", DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")

In 2366, Katik Shaw was a waiter at the Lumar Cafe on Rutia IV. He later witnessed the abduction of Doctor Crusher. (TNG: "The High Ground")

Q masqueraded as a waiter briefly on Deep Space 9 where he served Doctor Bashir a cup of mint tea. When Q told Bashir to stay away from Vash, Bashir told him "My god, you're an impertinent waiter." (DS9: "Q-Less")
