Vulcan ranks

The Vulcan High Command has used ranks for hundreds of years to differentiate more experienced officer who have more responsibility from the lesser soldiers. The structure bears some resemblance to the Klingon and Romulan ranks.

Administrator

The Administrator is the title given to the head of the High Command. It is approximately equal to a Starfleet Fleet admiral. (ENT: "The Forge")

Captain

A Vulcan Captain in 2369.

Captain is the rank held by most starship commanders. It seems to be equal to a Starfleet Captain, although it may be higher.

Commander

Commander is directly above subcommander. It seems to be higher than a Starfleet commander, and may even be equal to a Starfleet captain.

Subcommander

Subcommander is slightly higher in rank than a Starfleet commander. (ENT: "Broken Bow")

Altern

Altern is approximately equal to a Starfleet lieutenant commander.

Subaltern

Subaltern is approximately equal to a Starfleet lieutenant. (VOY: "Infinite Regress")

Lieutenant

A Vulcan Lieutenant is closer in rank to a Starfleet lieutenant junior grade.

Sublieutenant

A Sublieutenant in 2154.

Sublieutenant is the lowest officer rank in the Vulcan military. (ENT: "Kir'Shara")
