Vulcan Brandy

Two glasses of Vulcan brandy.

Vulcan brandy is a alcoholic beverage, produced by the Vulcans.

In 2377, after the Maquis took over Voyager (under the influence of Teero Anaydis's mind control), Chakotay told Tuvok to fire a phaser at Captain Janeway to prove his loyalty. After he did, (and nothing happened, because the phaser was defective) Chakotay offered him some freshly replicated Vulcan brandy. (VOY: "Repression")

This contradicts a previous statement made by Spock in TOS: "The Conscience of the King", where he notes: "My father's race was spared the dubious benefits of alcohol," when offered a glass of Saurian brandy by Dr. McCoy. T'Pol also noted in ENT: "Breaking the Ice", that Vulcans don't drink wine, indicating that perhaps Vulcan brandy is for ceremonial or religious purposes only. Alcoholic beverages produced on Vulcan may also be intended primarily for export.
