Visigoths were people who migrated into areas of Europe previously dominated by the Roman Empire, later known as Spain and southern France. Under Alaric, the Visigoths sacked the city of Rome, during the reign of Emperor Honorius in 410.

Jean-Luc Picard compared the Visigoths to the Borg, and wondered if Honorius felt the same doom as he did 2366. (TNG: "The Best of Both Worlds")
