Vega was the primary of the Vega planetary system. This system, located within 90 light years of the Sol system, was located in the Alpha Quadrant.
The location of Vega was depicted on a star chart in astrometrics on USS Voyager in 2376. (VOY: "Child's Play")
Vega (Alpha Lyrae) was a A class star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times the brightness of Sol. (pgs. 36)
The Vega colony, an Earth colony on Vega IX, was established prior to 2151. Before this year, Earth ships had been operating within 90 light years of the Sol system.
