While Mr. Scott did indeed sabotage the Excelsior in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, it would be speculation to say that is also why the transwarp experiment itself also failed. - Archduk3 19:59, February 3, 2010 (UTC)
The idea that the experiment failed is actually based on the use of the term 'transwarp' in TNG and latter series, not the events of "The Search for Spock". See here for the discussion on that. - Archduk3 20:24, February 3, 2010 (UTC)
