Although I've been a Star Trek fan for as long as I can remember, I am new to Memory Alpha and wiki-ing, so my apologies for any mistakes I may make.
Last year I graduated with a BA(hons) in Film and Television Studies, something which Star Trek heavily influenced. Not only was it watching Star Trek that encouraged me to study Film and Television, but I also wrote my final year dissertation, "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations" How and why have fans creative responses changed from the 1970's shortage of, to the current abundance of Star Trek?, about the changing patterns in fan fiction and fan film.
It was my research for this that got me interested in the early days of fandom, the late 60's/early 70's. A time when fans first started realising that there were others like themselves and were able to come together through what was initially, just a TV show.
