Made sysop (Feb 2004)Edit

Hey Cid, after some discussion between Harry and I, we've decided that it's getting to the time when we need to add some more sysops to the ranks at Memory Alpha. Based on your excellent and enthusiastic contributions so far, you've been chosen as one of them. Congratulations!

There really isn't too much precedent to build on at this point, but I think you know the general purpose of a sysop at MA -- taking care of vandalism (which I noticed you did earlier today), handling protected pages, and other similar tasks. Also, as time goes on, I think that the sysops will have a somewhat larger say in policies that are made (or changed) at MA.

One friendly word of advice, though -- don't let this promotion go to your head too much! :-) As I understand the system at Wikipedia (which we're trying to emulate), a sysop is more a trusted member with somewhat expanded powers rather than someone with specific authority (unlike, say, being a moderator on a message board). If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to contact me! -- Dan Carlson 14:24, 3 Feb 2004 (PST)

Woohoo! ;) Thanks Dan, thanks Harry... -- Cid Highwind 03:23, 4 Feb 2004 (PST)

New revision of "USS Tsiolkovsky"Edit

Revised USS Tsiolkovsky page:

Content moved to USS Tsiolkovsky/temp

Thanks. I moved the new article suggestion to USS Tsiolkovsky/temp. It can be edited there and will be moved to USS Tsiolkovsky after that page has been deleted. -- Cid Highwind 12:39, 19 May 2004 (CEST)

Naming conventionsEdit

Vega Colony, Alpha Centauri Colony, Lunar Colonies - - - Why not Martian Colonies with capital letter "C"?! from User:BlueMars

According to Memory Alpha:Naming conventions, lowercase titles are preferred unless the title includes proper nouns (which is not the case here). The other titles you listed are artifacts that should be moved to lowercase titles as well in the future - I think I created some of them myself before I was made aware of this policy. -- Cid Highwind 16:17, 23 May 2004 (CEST)

Don't simply delete my contributions, check copyrights first!Edit

I will reimplement the two species 8572 pics. strange, you delete things very quick, but no one noticed what a crap the original Species 8472 article was for days!! --BlueMars 01:03, May 25, 2004 (CEST)

I removed the images because they did not have a proper copyright disclaimer at that moment. Better safe than sorry, in those cases. Regarding the original content of that article, please note that it was just a little more than 24 hours old when you first edited it and that cautious refactoring is one of the core principles of any wiki, not something an admin necessarily has to deal with. -- Cid Highwind 02:12, 25 May 2004 (CEST)

RedirectsEdit

Please don't create redirects from 'standard' titles ("Help")to those with a prefix ("Memory Alpha:Help"). Titles without prefix should be reserved for 'real' content. -- Cid Highwind 22:12, 6 Jun 2004 (CEST)

Very well, but if people are new here I think they will get very confused when they have to type Memory Alpha: before a lot of the pages. I know I still do. -- Redge 22:16, 6 Jun 2004 (CEST)

USS ChekaovEdit

THe Uss Chekaov was named for a russin composer, not for Pavel Chekov(notice different spellings)

If I may interject, the photos of the studio model [[1]] seem to disagree with your statement. --Captain Mike K. Bartel 22:56, 23 Jul 2004 (CEST)

MA/de needs your help Edit

;) -- Cid Highwind 14:51, 4 Dec 2004 (CET)

Pavel Chekov and canon Edit

Discussion moved to User talk:Shlomi of Vulcan

Thanks Cid Edit

Cid thanks for directing me to the Canon section of the webpage. All future entries will stay within those instructions.

Custom styles Edit

I've been messing around with User:Harry Doddema/monobook.css, but even after force-reloading, the new style doesn't seem to be active. Have you had similar problems? Do I have to change anything in Preferences? -- Harry 14:08, 29 Dec 2004 (CET)

Luke80 - Re. NGC 400. Edit

This is user Luke80. Hi, although I have been contributing as a guest for some time, I've only recently started using my account, so I'm not sure how this messaging thing works, but down to buisness...

Thats ok with me. Is it Ok put down technical stuff from the book, into the book's article?

Luke80 - Thanks. Edit

Ok, thank you.
