Star Trek parodies and pop culture references (animated television)

Code Lyoko

A dying Aelita tells Jeremie that "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". Spock Prime told Kirk this in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Spock told McCoy in Star Trek Into Darkness.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

Chris overhears from Yugi and screams out "NOOOOAAAAHHHH!!!", just as Kirk did in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Star Trek parodies and pop culture references (film)

Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland

As Nemo destroys the Nightmare King with the King of Slumberland's royal scepter, the specter zaps the same sound effect as the phasers used in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. As Sailor Moon used Cosmic Moon Power Unite to form a energy ball, it fires the same sound effect as the Photon torpedo used in Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Featuring Glenn Morshower, Robert Foxworth, George Coe, and Leonard Nimoy.

Wheelie watches TOS: "Amok Time" in Sam and Carly's apartment. Sam compares Dylan's car museum to the (presumably from the new movie) Enterprise due to its slick white appearance. Sentinel Prime (played by Nimoy) reuses Spock's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan line "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." The Xantium's destruction and the dialogue between Ratchet and Optimus Prime is a near perfect recreation of the USS Enterprise's destruction from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

Lost in Space (1998)

The Project Genesis is the only thing that can save Earth because it is an environmental disaster. Unlike the unstable prototype David Marcus had made, the Genesis Device works function. The Global Sedition were exited on Delta Vega. The explosive of the Genesis Device causes matter within a small black hole formed by the collapsed planet to re-form into the Genesis Planet.

The Fifth Element

Captain Montgomery Scott assigned as captain of engineering, Ensign Annalee Call becomes a Chief engineer of the USS Enterprise-A. She works on warp engines, weapons and shields. The crew of the Enterprise-A encounter the Ultimate Evil. The Mangalores steal three Klingon K't'inga-class battle cruisers and the IKS Amar.

Serenity (film)

The Burnham quadrant, the Reaver space, the Border planets, the Rim planets and the Central planets located in the Delta Quadrant.

The Time Machine (2002 Film)

The inhabitants of Miranda were the Reavers, the Eloi and the Morlocks. The USS Defiant was caught in a Gravity well of the Temporal rift.

Galaxy Quest

In 2387, the resulting black hole consumes the USS Bozeman along with the Jellyfish and the nearby Romulan mining vessel Narada commanded by Nero. The Bozeman arrives the 23rd century in 2290 and cloned Kirk.

Waterworld

IRW Decius is the first Romulan D'deridex-class warbird in the late 23rd century. The Enterprise-A was submerged in an ocean on Earth-That-Was in order to preserve the Prime Directive.

Star Trek

The USS Enterprise-A became a Flagship of Starfleet. The Narada through the Temporal rift that send into 36 years forward into the future. Nero maroons Spock's future counterpart on Veridian III in the Veridian system. The USS Yellowstone possesses a Red matter similar to the Jellyfish. The Federation holoship was employed by Starfleet Command. The Cimmerian Planet and Ashlar are destroyed by Nero as an example of what might happen to Earth and Vulcan as revenge for the destruction of Romulus of 2387.

The USS Enterprise in 2293 has the same effect as the USS Enterprise-C in 2366. The alternate universes containing both realities were fusing together, and would only stop if the altered Enterprise re-enters the temporal rift.

Star Trek Into Darkness

Khan!!!

"KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!"

Spock screaming Khan

"Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!"

In 2294, the Enterprise and the Excelsior discover the Dyson sphere. Admiral Alexander Marcus commands the USS Vengeance. Khan Noonien Singh commands the USS Avenger. Note that the Enterprise-A in the Alternate reality would likely have the same effect as the altered Enterprise in the Prime reality.

Auto-destruct

Constitution-class

Uss enterprise self destruct

The Enterprise self-destructs

On Constitution-class starships, three senior officers were required to initiate the destruct sequence, using the following, concurrent codes.

Each officer would state their name, rank and corresponding code:

  1. "Destruct sequence 1, code 1-1 A."
  2. "Destruct sequence 2, code 1-1 A-2B."
  3. "Destruct sequence 3, code 1 B-2B-3."

The computer would then reply:

"Destruct sequence completed and engaged. Awaiting final code for one/three/five-minute countdown."
In TOS: "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", the countdown was only thirty seconds.

The commanding officer would then state:

"Code zero zero zero. Destruct. Zero."

The default setting was for a one-minute countdown, but this could be altered during the sequence initiation. The sequence could be aborted at any time up until T-minus five seconds by the captain or highest-ranking officer, with the code "Abort destruct sequence, code 1-2-3-continuity." (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock; TOS: "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield")

Excelsior-class

The Excelsior-class ship's captain was able to activate the "Omega" option for the auto-destruct on his own authorization without the need of any other officers. The captain would order the computer to stand-by to initiate the Omega-destruct option with the use of an authorization code. In the case of the Excelsior, the order would proceed as:

"Computer, stand-by auto-destruct sequence Omega. Recognize voice pattern Don West, authorization Alpha-Alpha 3-0-5."
Considering the close proximity the Excelsior had to the USS Vengeance at the time the order was given, it is likely that the "Omega" option would result in the instant destruction of the vessel with enough force to destroy any nearby objects with it.

If the ship was significantly damaged, the auto-destruct system could be rendered inoperable. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

Sovereign-class

The Sovereign-class returned to the "three-officer" authorization method. Each would state name and rank, confirming the sequence, and giving their authorization code. The senior officer would then select the destruct sequence type, sequence delay, and whether a silent countdown would be initiated. The sequence would begin upon use of the command "Enable". In the case of the Enterprise-E, the sequence was as follows:

"Computer, begin auto-destruct sequence, authorization Picard 4-7 Alpha Tango."
"Computer, Commander Beverly Crusher. Confirm auto-destruct sequence, authorization Crusher 2-2 Beta Charlie."
"Computer, Lieutenant Commander Worf. Confirm auto-destruct sequence, authorization Worf 3-7 Gamma Echo."
(The computer would ask for the final code to start the sequence.)
"This is Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Destruct sequence Alpha-One. 15 minutes, silent countdown. Enable" (time and silent countdown mode are optional). Star Trek: First Contact; Star Trek Nemesis
Considering the close proximity the Enterprise-E had to the Scimitar at the time the order was given, it is likely that the "Omega" option would result in the instant destruction of the vessel with enough force to destroy any nearby objects with it.

The ship's captain was able to deactivate the "Omega" option for the auto-destruct on his own authorization. The captain would order the computer to abort the Omega-destruct option with the use of an authorization code. In the case of the Enterprise-E, the order would proceed as:

"Computer, abort auto-destruct sequence Omega. Recognize voice pattern Jean-Luc Picard, authorization Alpha-Alpha 3-0-5."

Recover the Element Stones. (The Fifth Element)

  • "Captain's log, Stardate 8391.9. Lieutenant Mera learned from Priest Vito Cornelius of the history of the Ultimate Evil. The Mondoshawans return to Earth with the Elements in time to stop the Evil. Ensign Call informed me that the attack of the shape-shifting Mangalores, the remnants of an outlawed, warlike alien race hired by the industrialist Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg, who was himself hired by the Great Evil to dispose of the element stones. If he succeeds, the Evil will take over the entire Universe."
  • "Captain's Personal log. We heading for Fhloston. The four Element stones were entrusted to Diva Plavalaguna, an opera singer. General Munro, Dallas' former superior, re-enlists Dallas and orders him to travel undercover, as a rigged radio contest winner, to meet the Diva on a luxury cruise in space at Fhloston Paradise."

2287

Mission to Nimbus III. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

  • "Captain's log, Stardate 8454.1...Captain's log..." [log recorder malfunctions]

2290

  • "Captain's Log, June 6, 1999. Will Robinson's favorite show Galaxy Quest is revived. The original cast was starring, along with Laliari, a female Thermian who chose to stay on Earth as Fred's lover, and with Guy playing the ship's chief of security, "Roc" Ingersol."

2293

Mission to Khitomer. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

  • "Captain's log, Stardate 9522.6. I've never trusted Klingons, and I never will. I could never forgive them for the death of my boy. It seems to me, our mission to escort the Chancellor of the Klingon High Council to a peace summit is problematic, at best. Spock says this could be an historic occasion. I'd like to believe him, but how on Earth can history get past people like me?"
  • "The Enterprise hosted Chancellor Gorkon and company to dinner last night. Our manners weren't exactly Emily Post. Ah, note to the galley: Romulan ale no longer to be served at diplomatic functions."
  • "Captain's log, Stardate 9529.1. This is Ripley 8 and my Wedding on the starship Enterprise under my command. This ship, and her history, will shortly become the care of another crew. To them and their posterity will we commit our future. They will continue the voyages we have begun, and journey to all the undiscovered countries, boldly going where no man, where no one... has gone before."

Battle with the Narada (Star Trek)

  • "Captain's Log, Stardate 9715.5. Nero's very presence has altered the flow of history, beginning with the attack on the USS Kelvin, culminating in the events of today, thereby creating an entire new chain of incidents that cannot be anticipated by either party. He created an alternate reality, he created a Parallel universe. Whatever our lives might have been, if the time continuum was disrupted, our destinies have changed."

Captain's log, USS Excelsior

Entries

2293

  • "Stardate 9521.6. Captain's Log, USS Excelsior. Don West commanding. After three years, I've concluded my first assignment as master of this vessel, cataloging gaseous planetary anomalies in Beta Quadrant. We are heading home under full impulse power. I am pleased to report that ship and crew have functioned well."

2294

  • "Captain's log, supplemental. Nero has forced Christopher Pike to give out the security codes to defense systems around Earth. It seems that in 2387, how the Narada was a mining ship, and he was laboring to support his wife, who was expecting his child, before they were killed when Romulus was destroyed. He placed blame on the Federation for doing nothing, and accused Spock of betraying them, promising himself retribution. Captain Kirk reported that the Narada must have traveled back in time from the future. In order to stop Nero, we must regroup with the fleet first and we go after him."
