Old Man

The old man was an inhabitant of the Yonada, a ten thousand-year-old asteroid-ship built by the Fabrini when they realized that their home sun was about to go supernova. Yonada was on a collision course with the populated planet Daran V, and James T. Kirk and Spock attempted to alter its course. The old man and the rest of the people of the asteroid spaceship were not aware that they were on a ship, and believed it to be their homeworld. Their deity, the Oracle, was a computer programmed by the ancestors of the people of the Yonada to guide the ship. The old man wore the "instrument of obedience", which punished wrong thinking.

Even though the old man was wracked by pain by the device, he told Kirk that many years ago he had climbed the mountains, even though it was forbidden, and touched the sky. The device killed him as he finished his story. (TOS: "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky")

The old man was played by Jon Lormer.
