The university's name on an LCARS display

The University of Alpha Centauri was a university on one of the planets in the Alpha Centauri system. One of the majors offered to prospective students was Subspace Physics.

Prior to the sealing of the ruins in the mid-23rd century, this university excavated archeological sites on Tagus III. They sent the Palinski Excavation to the planet, which recovered artifacts from the Pre-Neskoromny Era. This expedition was listed on the Tagus III Archaeological Notes, which was displayed on Jean-Luc Picard's desktop monitor in his ready room. (TNG: "Qpid" okudagram)

In the mid-24th century, Leah Brahms earned a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Subspace Physics from this university. This information was from her biographical data file. (TNG: "Booby Trap" okudagram)

Lieutenant Commander Data, while in command of the USS Sutherland, read the article "Bolt Wave Measurements in Subspace" published by this university on a viewscreen while searching for clues on how to detect cloaked Romulan warbirds, during the Klingon Civil War in 2368. (TNG-R: "Redemption II" okudagram)

For "Redemption II," the original text was replaced for the remastered project, and the reference to this university was added in.
This university might be located on the planet Alpha Centauri.
