The USS Valley Forge (NCC-43305) was a Federation Template:ShipClass starship in service during the 24th century. The Valley Forge fought in the Dominion War and, in late 2374, saw action at the First Battle of Chin'toka. It was destroyed by Cardassian orbital weapon platforms after they were activated sooner than the Allies thought they would be. (DS9: "Tears of the Prophets")
Background
The Valley Forge's appearance in "Tears of the Prophets" was confirmed by John Gross and Karen Sickles of Digital Muse in a 25 June 1998 post, by DS9 Visual Effects Supervisor David Stipes, on the newsgroup alt.tv.star-trek.ds9.
This ship was most likely named after the American Revolution encampment and training ground outside of Philadelphia. It could also have been named after one of the United States Navy's ships of the same name.
