The USS Rutledge was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century.

In the 2340s, the Rutledge was involved in the Federation-Cardassian War while under the command of Captain Benjamin Maxwell.

In 2346, Miles O'Brien transferred to the Rutledge as an enlisted crewman. After rescuing thirteen Starfleet officers from Setlik III in 2347, O'Brien was promoted to the tactical officer aboard the Rutledge. (TNG: "The Wounded"; DS9: "Paradise")

Will Kayden served aboard the Rutledge, as did Raymond Boone until his capture at Setlik III. (TNG: "The Wounded"; DS9: "Tribunal")

In 2373, the Rutledge and the USS Tecumseh led the Starfleet counterattack into the Archanis sector during the Federation-Klingon War. (DS9: "Nor the Battle to the Strong")

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, the Rutledge was a New Orleans-class starship, with the registry NCC-57295. The DS9 comic "No Time Like the Present" uses the Star Trek Encyclopedia reference and depicts the Rutledge thusly. For possible origins of the name, please see Rutledge.
