The USS Puget Sound (NCC-85343) was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century. In 2364, Cari L. Thomas was captain of the ship.

That same year, prior to stardate 41775, this starship, along with the USS Ganymede, were jointly surveying a sector. Both starship captains received orders from a Starfleet admiral at the Starfleet Mission Operations Division.

In these orders, the captains were advised to avoid a range of subsectors and to refrain from using high energy sensor scans in another subsector. That order had been supported by Admiral Marcia Meldal-Johnsan and dealt with diplomatic negotiations with the New Zealand government. Both captains were to acknowledge this order on subspace com net security code 045, code 100 alpha.

In late 2364, Data read these orders and several others to investigate claims of a conspiracy among the highest members of Starfleet Command. (TNG: "Conspiracy")

The ship was never mentioned in dialog; this name came from a mission order.
The subject line, stardate, and the numbers of the sector and subsector were illegible.
The Puget Sound had the same registry as the USS Elmer Fudd and the USS Mustang.
