The USS Merrimac (NCC-1715) was a Federation cruiser that was in service with Starfleet in the late 23rd century.
The Merrimac was mentioned by name, registry, and type in comm chatter transmitted by Epsilon IX station. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)
Franz Joseph's Star Fleet Technical Manual listed the Merrimac as a Constitution-class heavy cruiser.
The comm transmission of this starship was cut from the director's cut.
A USS Merrimac was mentioned several times in Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes. However, it is assumed all the information referred to the mid-24th century Nebula-class USS Merrimac.
