The USS Merrimac (NCC-1715) was a 23rd century Federation starship operated by Starfleet.

In the mid-2270s, the cruiser was mentioned in comm chatter picked up by the Epsilon IX station. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

Franz Joseph's Star Fleet Technical Manual listed the Merrimac as a Constitution-class heavy cruiser.
The comm transmission of this starship was cut from the director's cut.

A USS Merrimac was mentioned several times in Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes. However, it is assumed all the information referred to the mid-24th century Nebula-class USS Merrimac.
