The USS Maryland was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century.
The Maryland was one of the starships missing in the Gamma Quadrant sometime before 2373, it was presumed to have been destroyed by the Dominion. (DS9: "In Purgatory's Shadow")
The Star Trek Encyclopedia (2nd ed., pp. 291, 473) states that this vessel was a Renaissance-class starship, with a registry of NCC-45109. The Encyclopedia states that the ship was named for various ships of the US Navy named the USS Maryland.
