The USS John F. Kennedy (NCC-85183) was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century.

In 2364, on stardate 41601.3, the ship's captain received multiple mission orders about patrol assignments from Admiral Gregory Quinn at Starfleet Operational Support Services. The orders were accompanied by several star charts and the schematic of a planet.

At the end of that year, Data read these orders and several others to investigate claims of a conspiracy among the highest members of Starfleet Command. (TNG: "Conspiracy")

Background

The ship was never mentioned in dialog; this name came from a mission order.

The Starfleet communique was only glimpsed for several frames on a viewscreen. The ship was named after the former US President John F. Kennedy, as was the aircraft carrier (CV-67) of the same name.

The Kennedy had the same registry as the starship USS Albert Einstein. This might be attributed to the fact that the text used was the same for both ships, with alterations made to the ship's name and commanding officer.

The Kennedy was commanded by a male Human; his first name was Tod.

The planet pictured first appeared in "The Battle" and was apparently a world in the Maxia Zeta system. Furthermore, the star charts contained in the orders were taken from the Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology (Pgs. 95, 115 and 133), and all made appearances in other episodes as well, allowing for a better look, and possibly hints as to the Kennedy's mission.
