The USS Gettysburg was a Federation starship that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-to-late 24th century. This was the last command of Rear Admiral Mark Jameson before he was infected with Iverson's Disease. (TNG: "Too Short a Season")
The Gettysburg later docked for maintenance at Deep Space 9 during the Dominion War in 2375. (DS9: "Treachery, Faith and the Great River")
The Star Trek Encyclopedia describes this starship as a Constellation-class star cruiser, with a registry of NCC-3890.
The Gettysburg was named for Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the location of the Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War.
In a scene cut from the final episode, the other ships that Jameson was the commanding officer were named the USS Falcon and the USS Pegasus. According to this scene, by 2364, the Gettysburg was renowned for its explorations. [1]
