In that year, the Starship Deploy Status chart seen on Starbase 173 listed the current assignment of the Excelsior as a deep space exploration mission of Sector 034. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man")
In 2370, Excelsior was in service along the Federation's border with the Cardassian Union. In that year, she was assigned to help search for the missing USS Hera. (TNG: "Interface")
