The USS Enterprise (CV-6) was a US Navy aircraft carrier that was in operation during the mid-20th century (1938 – 1947).
During World War II, the Enterprise fought in the Pacific Ocean, primarily against the Japanese.
Captain Jonathan Archer kept a photograph of Air Group Ten, who served on the USS Enterprise in WWII, in his ready room aboard the Enterprise NX-01. (ENT: "Twilight")
- In an alternate timeline, in which Germany invaded the United States, the Enterprise was destroyed. Alicia Travers assumed that Jonathan Archer was a sailor who managed to escape before it sank. (ENT: "Storm Front")
The Enterprise was the most-decorated U.S. ship of World War II, and was succeeded by the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in 1961.
- This is the Enterprise after which Gene Roddenberry named the famous NCC-1701; the tales of Enterprise's exploits in the Pacific were very famous and many movies were made about her and her crew.
