The USS Constantinople (NCC-43622) was a Federation colony ship that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century. In 2365, Captain Richard James was the commanding officer of this ship.
In 2365, the Constantinople suffered a major hull breach while transporting 2,012 colonists near the planet Gravesworld. Forty-six of her people suffered injuries, mostly minor. A Starfleet officer aboard the Constantinople sent out this distress call, "Mayday. This is the USS Constantinople. The outer hull is breached and environmental systems compromised." The USS Enterprise-D responded to the transport's distress call, and was able to help facilitate necessary repairs to the ship, as well as provide her with the required medical supplies. (TNG: "The Schizoid Man")
Later that year, the Constantinople was on special assignment for Terraform Command. The ship was listed on the Starship Deploy Status chart which was on display in a courtroom of Starbase 173. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man", okudagram)
Background
The Starfleet officer aboard the ship was voiced by an unknown actor. Captain Jean-Luc Picard, in his log, described the Constantinople as a liner.
The registry was derived from the Starship Deploy Status chart seen in "The Measure of a Man".
The Star Trek Encyclopedia described this vessel as an Istanbul-class starship, with a registry number of NCC-34852, adding that it was named for the Turkish city also known as Istanbul. (citation needed • edit)
An early draft of the script identified this vessel as the Mary Rogers.
