For the alternate reality counterpart, please see USS Bradbury (alternate reality).

The USS Bradbury (NX-72307) was a Federation Bradbury-class transport that was in service with Starfleet in the mid-24th century.

In 2366, Bradbury ferried Starfleet Academy students from Betazed to Earth. Ensign Wesley Crusher of the starship USS Enterprise was scheduled to be transported by the Bradbury to the Academy to begin his classes. Because of an emergency aboard the Enterprise, the Bradbury was forced to leave him behind to keep its schedule. (TNG: "Ménage à Troi")

According to starship mission status updates received by Enterprise-D in 2367, the Bradbury was continuing her warp drive performance tests at the time. (TNG: "Brothers", display graphic) These tests would continue into 2369. (TNG: "Chain of Command, Part I", display graphic)

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, the Bradbury was named for s-f/fantasy writer, Ray Bradbury, a friend of the late Gene Roddenberry. Based on the NX registry number and the ship having the same name as the class name, presumably the Bradbury was an experimental vessel and the first of its class.
