Farallon

Farallon in 2369.

Mareel

Mareel in 2370.

The Tyrans were a humanoid species which had ridges on their foreheads, and were native to the Tyran system.

During the 2360s, the Tyrans were involved in an experimental mining technology, known as a particle fountain, which was tested on the Tyran planet, Tyrus VIIa. The project was spearheaded by Doctor Farallon.

By the end of the decade, Starfleet was interested in the Tyran technology, and considered its use on Carema III. (TNG: "The Quality of Life")

Background

Farallon's Tyran hair prosthetic would later be reused for Mareel in DS9: "Invasive Procedures". While it was indicated that Mareel was a native of Khefka IV, it was not stated that the planet was necessarily her species' homeworld, nor was there any indication that she was intended to be another species other than Tyran.
