- The bulk of the novel is titled "THEN" and occurs immediately after the events of Star Trek Generations, starting immediately after the Enterprise-D's saucer section crash-landing. The Prologue and Epilogue, titled "NOW," occurs some time after the death of Jadzia Dax, and after the events of Star Trek: First Contact.
