Multiple realities
(covers information from several alternate timelines)

Triage was a medical term for assessing a patient's condition and to prioritize treatment. The first rule of medical triage was to make sure the patient would live, then move on to the next one. As such, emotional detachment was essential, because otherwise one risked impairing their judgment. (VOY: "Year of Hell")

In an alternate timeline, the USS Enterprise-D had a triage team. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise")

In 2368, Doctor Beverly Crusher prepared triages for the wounded crewmembers and survivors of the USS Denver. She built emergency infirmaries in three cargo bays and built teams with all personnel who had a medical background including Toby Russell. (TNG: "Ethics")

A younger Jean-Luc Picard suggested to create a triage center in shuttlebay 3 for the casualties for the science team of Ligos VII. (TNG: "Rascals")

In 2369, Doctor Julian Bashir proposed training some of the Ennis in the basics of field triage. (DS9: "Battle Lines")

When stopped at Ajilon Prime, Doctor Julian Bashir joined the medical personnel to treat the wounded Starfleet personnel. Doctor Kalandra ordered him to perform standard triage. (DS9: "Nor the Battle to the Strong")

In 2372 Neelix interviewed The Doctor for his A Briefing with Neelix program, The Doctor began his statement with the tasks he had to perform when he received patients, the first of which was triage. (VOY: "Investigations")

Soon after, The Doctor was forced to open triage facilities in the USS Voyager sickbay and Holodeck 2 to accommodate all of the injured crewmembers from the effects of proton bursts. (VOY: "Deadlock")

In 2374 in the alternate timeline known as the Year of Hell, The Doctor set up a triage facility in the mess hall after heavy attacks by a Krenim warship. It still operated over two weeks later, when he had to reprimand Lieutenant Tom Paris for continuing to spend time with Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres despite her no longer being in critical danger, instead of moving on. (VOY: "Year of Hell")

That same year, after Voyager was taken over by the Hirogen, The Doctor was faced with a high incidence of casualties and a near impossible level of triage. When he was later ordered to treat Hirogen wounded over Voyager personnel, his argument that the first rule of triage states that the critical injuries take priority was overruled. (VOY: "The Killing Game", "The Killing Game, Part II")

When The Doctor told Neelix about his subroutine calculating the choice of survival for two equal wounded patients in a triage situation in sickbay. (VOY: "Latent Image")

In The Doctor's holonovel Photons Be Free, the Emergency Medical Holographic program's attempts to enforce the rules of triage were either ignored or overridden. When he attempted to operate on a seriously injured patient that would be dead in five minutes instead of Lieutenant Marseilles, Captain Jenkins shot the patient, stating that he was dead, so he could now treat Marseilles. (VOY: "Author, Author")
