The transporter sensor was a component aboard the post-2273 refit USS Enterprise.

Just prior to the launch of the newly-refitted ship from spacedock, Commander Sonak and another crewmember were attempting to beam aboard, but were killed due to a faulty module causing the transporter sensor to be offline. The defect was later corrected by Scotty's engineering team. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture)
