Tony Cruz is the actor who portrayed the recurring background role of Ensign Lopez in several episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also portrayed Terry in the episode "Redemption II". As a background performer he received no credit for his appearances. Cruz filmed his scenes for "Redemption II" on Friday 12 July 1991 on Paramount Stage 9.

Cruz was scheduled to portray Lopez in bridge scenes in the fifth season episodes "Unification II" and "New Ground", in engineering scenes in the episode "The First Duty", and in Ten Forward scenes in the episode "The Perfect Mate" but was replaced in all episodes.
