Thruster control was a manual control for a thruster. This control was located at the helm console. Occasionally, control could be transferred to another station on the main bridge of a starship. Loss of main power could result in a loss of thruster control. Emergency thrusters, which could operate on auxiliary power, didn't seem to need a thruster control.

In 1986, at the behest of Spock, the thruster control for the acceleration thrusters was transferred from Hikaru Sulu's console to the science console. Spock then manually fired the thrusters to push the HMS Bounty into a time warp. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

Q'ell noted that the shuttlepod was a little bit small and the thruster controls were hard to reach. (ENT: "Marauders")

In 2286, the thruster controls aboard the USS Saratoga were neutralized by the power drain caused by the transmisson of the Whale Probe. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

In 2374, the EMH Mark II asked The Doctor about the thruster control while studying the navigation console on the bridge of the USS Prometheus. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle")
