The location of the system was depicted on a Federation star chart, where it was labeled by the third planet of the system. Theta 116 system was also located near the planetoid Babel. (TNG: "Conspiracy")

In 2365, the scattered remains of the 21st century Earth spaceship Charybdis were discovered in orbit of the farthest planet in this system by a Klingon cruiser. (TNG: "The Royale")
