A thermic discharge was a type of electrical energy naturally generated by an electric eel-type creature indigenous to a massive, spaceborne ocean in the Delta Quadrant.

In 2375, one of these creatures attacked the Delta Flyer, which had submerged to a depth of 560 kilometers. The creature's thermic discharges exceeded 500,000 volts, disabling the vessel's shields and thrusters. The creature retreated subsequent to Seven of Nine targeting it with the Flyer's forward phasers. (VOY: "Thirty Days")
