An anecdote in the Vulcan History section notes that after a mass slaughter, the "...blood of the slain clerics flowed down the carved steps of the mountain, and, according to legend, that is the reason that the stones of Seleya are tinged red to this day..." Apparently not accounting for the fact that Vulcan blood is typically portrayed as being green.
