The Ships of Star Trek is a reference book published in May 1988. It is an edited collection of articles written by, among others, the editor for various fanzines as well as publications like Starlog, and is divided in three sections:

  • The Starship Enterprise; A collection of articles about the (real world) development and (in-unverse) appearances of the USS Enterprise.
  • The Galileo Seven shuttle craft; A collection of articles about the (real world) development, build-up and history till 1986 of the full scale mock-up and (in-universe) appearances of the Galileo shuttlecraft. Noteworthy for its interview with Gene Winfield of AMT/Ertl's Speed & Custom Shop who with his team not only manufactured the full scale mock-up and studio model of the shuttle, but also produced the studio model(s) of the D7-class.
  • The Romulan Bird-of-Prey; A short section about the studio model and appearances of the Romulan Bird-of-Prey.

The book is illustrated throughout with black and white photographs.
