The Ships of Star Trek is a reference book published in May 1988. It is an edited collection of articles written by the author for various fanzines and is divided in three sections:
- The Starship Enterprise; A collection of articles about the (real world) development and (in-unverse) appearances of the USS Enterprise.
- The Galileo Seven shuttle craft; A collection of articles about the (real world) development, build-up and history till 1986 of the full scale mock-up and (in-universe) appearances of the Galileo shuttlecraft. Noteworthy for its interview with Gene Winfield of AMT/Ertl's Custom & Speedshop who with his team not only manufactured the mock-up and studio model of the shuttle, but also produced the studio model(s) of the D7-class.
- The Romulan Bird-of-Prey; A short section about the studio model and appearances of the Romulan Bird-of-Prey.
The book is illustrated throughout with black and white photographs.
