- This is part 1 of a 4 issue mini-series.
- This mini-series is set in the sixth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, between the episodes "Aquiel" and "Face of the Enemy"
- The painted cover formed the left panel of a three-panel panorama with Star Trek Generations and The DS9/TNG crossover #1: "Prophets and Losses". The covers were all painted by Sonia Hillios. The entire panorama was released as a poster later in the year.
